‘Exploring Rome: The Eternal City’ Lecture Series By Cremin is in September

Discover why Rome is called The Eternal City during September in the three-part lecture series on Â鶹Դ´’s Romeoville campus.
Each session of the “Exploring Rome: The Eternal City” series will explore a different facet of Rome’s enduring cultural and historical significance.
“Jubilee & Pilgrimage 2025” (2-3 p.m. September 10 in AS 158A - Academic Building) Sacred spaces of Rome, the meaning of pilgrimage, and the importance of time in the context of the will be highlighted.
“Travel Study” (2-3 p.m. September 16 in DL 209 - DeLaSalle Hall) Participants will learn how travelers experience Rome beyond the tourist lens and acquire valuable tips for planning their own journey.
“Exploring Myth and History” (2-3 p.m. September 24 in AS 018S - Academic Building) Delve into the power of myths, examining how they shape understanding of the past and inform historical inquiry.
Dr. Dennis H. Cremin, chair and professor of Â鶹Դ´ History program and director of the Â鶹Դ´ History Center, is presenting the lecture series from his 20-plus years of experience leading groups of Â鶹Դ´ students on Travel Study trips to Rome and other destinations. Most recently, he was one of the leaders of a Social Justice Pilgrimage offered through the University Ministry to 14 students in January to Italy.
This lecture series is presented as a part of Â鶹Դ´’s Arts & Ideas Program, providing cultural and educational programming for students and the community. A grant from the sponsors a portion of the Arts & Ideas events. Contact for further information.
