Fraternities and Sororities are an exciting way to get involved in campus life at 麻豆原创. Involvement in a Greek letter organization gives members access to the benefits of a unique type of college experience. Members enjoy ample opportunities to develop social and leadership skills, get involved in philanthropic events, and cooperate with other groups and organizations.

The Office for Student Engagement and Multicultural Student Enrichment, the many volunteer moderators and advisors are dedicated to supporting, nurturing, and challenging the Greek Organizations at 麻豆原创. What is Greek Life?

Collectively referred to as 鈥淕reek Life鈥 Fraternities and sororities are value-based, undergraduate organizations that are mainly associated with colleges and universities. At their core, they provide academic support and help young college students develop social and leadership skills.

Different types of 鈥淕reek鈥 Organizations

All of these types of organizations use Greek Letters but differ for a number of reasons.
  • Honor Society鈥檚 or Honor Organizations 鈥 These orgs focus on a specific discipline or include high academic achieving students from all academic disciplines.
  • Professional Organizations 鈥 These organizations; exist to serve students of a specific profession. These organizations exist for many different professions including law, medicine, and even aviation.
  • Service Organizations - These orgs distinguish themselves from social organizations by making philanthropy and community service their primary focus.
  • Social Organizations - Social Fraternities and Sororities are probably what most people associate with Greek Life. While they are primarily social groups, these organizations also place a large importance on philanthropic endeavors.

How to join a Greek Organization

  1. Research the organization. Most organizations have a national or regional website that outlines their goals and describes their mission statement. They also include contacts and ways to join if they are not already at your campus.
  2. Attend their interest/ informational meetings. This is where you can learn directly from current and sometimes alumni members.
  3. Inquire about the organization's intake process. This is the process that potential members will need to go through in order to become an official member of the organization.
  4. Meet the organization's GPA and Grade level requirement.
  5. If bid is received from the organization, partake in educational or intake process to become a member.
